What a great book to level set yourself to all the noise around investing. I picked this book up at the start of some research on how to build a programmatic investing tool and it has sufficiently disabused me of any notion that I can in anyway predict the stock market.

This was such a practical and wise reminder that no matter how much jargon and academia that we put around something, it still requires careful consideration. One of the big take aways for me was that market booms and busts have been around forever and every time there’s a multitude of people claiming to have the magic sauce and Burton Malkiel reminds us that more often than not it’s best to ignore all that and stick with the tried and true method of investing in index funds. Maybe it’s not as fun or sexy but data shows over and over that it works.

Highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get into any kind of investment before you start!
