If I’d been going through a book store or browsing Amazon, I probably wouldn’t have thought twice about this book. I definitely judged the book by the cover on this one and am very glad it was picked for a book club. On the surface it reads as a book about how to shrug off the way people think of you but at it’s core is a real gospel proclamation. It’s not just about dealing with our fear of man, it’s about recognizing who God is, who we are in relation to Him, and how we move through life in light of that. It’s a reminder of our true calling which is to glorify God and love others. It gets at some deep issues like how do we know if what we desire is a need vs a want, how do we wrestle with hurt caused by others and ourselves and how we can work to focus more on God and less on ourselves so that we can love others better.
There’s so much in this book it’s hard to pull out just one or two things but I’m very glad I read this and highly recommend.
